Annoyed By Spam? Google Now Makes It Easy To Unsubscribe From Emails On Gmail

Gmail users can now breathe a sigh of relief.

Google’s latest updates for Gmail on web, Android and iOS, make it easier for users to unsubscribe to spam emails. Here’s how.

One of the most annoying parts of living our digital life is having a cluttered inbox due to the hundreds of emails you get every day. These emails just keep piling up, and it’s often hard to find the unsubscribe button, which is usually buried at the bottom of the email.

Fortunately, Google has addressed this issue for Gmail users. Gmail now allows users to unsubscribe from unwanted emails by simply hovering over the emails in their mailbox on the web. The best part is, users do not even have to open the emails to unsubscribe. This functionality works because Gmail sends an HTTP request or email to the sender, prompting them to remove the user’s email address from their mailing list.

For Android and iOS users, the unsubscribe option is now displayed immediately upon opening an email, avoiding the need to navigate through multiple steps in the three-dotted menu.

Google Takes Steps to Protect Legitimate Senders From Being Labeled As Spam by Users

Although it is annoying for users to receive multiple messages from sources to which they have subscribed, some people mark these messages as spam even though they are from legitimate senders. This can have a negative impact on the sender’s reputation. In order to address this issue, Google now allows users to choose between unsubscribing or reporting a message as spam.

When Will These Features Be Made Available?

We have this feature on iOS and Android.

Google notes that these features are already being gradually deployed to Gmail users on the web and iOS, Google Workspace accounts, and Android devices. We have tested these features ourselves and can confirm that they are available to us across Gmail on the web and the iOS and Android applications.
