Shab-e-Meraj, also known as Al-Isra Wal-Miraj or the Night of Miraj, is a significant event in Islam that commemorates the night journey of the Prophet Muhammad from Mecca to Jerusalem and then to heaven. The journey is described in the Quran, in Surah 17:1, as follows: “Exalted is He who took His Servant by night from the Sacred Mosque to the Farthest Mosque, whose surroundings We have blessed, to show him some of Our signs. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Seeing.”

Shab-e-Meraj: History and Significance
The journey is said to have begun when the Prophet Muhammad was awakened by the angel Gabriel and taken to the Buraq, a white beast with the head of a woman, the body of a horse, and the wings of an eagle. They then travelled to Jerusalem, where the Prophet Muhammad led the prophets in prayer.
After this, the Prophet Muhammad ascended to heaven, where he met with Allah and was given a number of important revelations, including the five daily prayers.
The Night of Miraj is a significant event in Islam because it demonstrates the special relationship between the Prophet Muhammad and Allah. It is also a time for Muslims to reflect on the importance of prayer and to strive to be closer to Allah.
Shab-e-Meraj Celebrations
