Making the perfect roti isn’t always easy. For many, achieving a round shape is challenging—and even if that’s sorted, the roti often turns out hard, tight, or doesn’t puff up properly. If you’ve been facing the same problem, worry not. There is a simple home remedy that will make your rotis soft, light, and easier to digest. (Local18)
According to Twinkle, a seasoned cook and lifestyle expert with over 10 years of experience, the secret lies in two common kitchen ingredients, salt and sugar. (Local18)
Twinkle suggests adding a pinch of salt and a little sugar (or sugar powder) to the flour before kneading. Mix it well and then knead the dough with lukewarm water. Once done, cover the dough with a clean cotton cloth and let it rest for about 30 minutes.

This resting time helps start a natural fermentation process in the dough, making it lighter and softer. The best part? It doesn’t alter the taste of your roti but significantly improves its texture and digestibility. (Local18)
For even better results, Twinkle recommends replacing regular salt with black salt. Black salt contains sodium and essential minerals that are known to aid digestion. It helps tackle issues like bloating, indigestion, and constipation, making your roti not just tasty but gut-friendly too. (Local18)
