X finally gets video and audio calling support

X is now competing with platforms like WhatsApp with its new update that brings video and audio calling support for all users.

Elon Musk has talked about bringing calling support to X for users and the update is available now if you are using an Android phone. The good thing about support for audio and video calls on X is that you don’t need to pay for the X Premium subscription and is available out of the box for every X user that has got the recent update for the app.

The update is rolling out this week which gives X users the option to make video or audio calls to their relatives, contacts or followers. The feature is embedded into the settings of the platform and you can follow these steps to enable/disable it for your account right away.

How To Enable Video/Audio Calls On X

– Open X on your Android phone

– Click on Settings and privacy from the side bar

– Scroll down to Privacy and safety to get more options

– Now click on Direct messages

– You will see the audio-video calling tab

– Turn on the toggle to use the feature

While we were trying to look for the calling support, we noticed that X has enabled the feature by default, something that most of you wouldn’t like. But thankfully, you have the option to manually disable the feature and you can do that by deselecting the options, people in your address book and people you follow.

Once you do that, X will ensure you don’t get any unwanted calls on the platform. To offer further privacy on X for calls, the platform is also ensuring that unless you message an account, they won’t be able to call you on X using the calling feature. X has put most of its new features under the subscription plan but calling is available to everyone, including those who use X for free. With calling support now available on X, the platform can be viewed as a proper rival to WhatsApp and even Google Meet to some extent.
