If you drink a hot cup of coffee (or tea) every morning, you already know that stained teeth are inevitable. But what you might not know is that whitening those teeth back to pristine conditions doesn’t require visiting the dentist.
Take these gel teeth whitening pens, for example, which one reviewer says made an “immediate difference” after using them just one time. “My husband had very stained teeth from coffee and red wine.. After his 1st application we could not believe our eyes!” they wrote. The pens are easy to use, too: after brushing, you just take the pen cap off, dab the cleaning serum across your teeth, wait 30 seconds and then rinse your mouth clean. The brand claims your teeth will whiten by four to eight shades. But right now, you can grab a 2-pack for 42% off, making it less than $10. (You can also grab a 4-pack for 30% off.) The pens are finally back on sale after a few weeks at full price, so grab them quickly.
The pens are affordable, easy to use and travel-friendly.
Each pen in this three-pack has a fine tip for precise application. Since they’re so slim, you can easily pack them in a bag or pocket while on the go. Venus Visage uses carbamide peroxide, a serum gentler than hydrogen peroxide, to remove accumulated stains from smoking, tea, coffee, soda and more.
(Take note that several users say to be careful about accidentally getting it on your gums, as it could potentially hurt those with sensitive teeth.)
“I was so frustrated with the other brands and trying to keep those strips on your teeth was pointless and produced ZERO results. However, with these pens, the whole process of teeth whitening is easy, fast, and convenient,” one wrote. “With just a few applications, there was an obvious whiter color to my teeth.”
“Don’t look anymore for a whitening gel! This is it,” wrote another. “I have tried many products and this is the one!!! Lightened my teeth almost right away. Getting tons of compliments.”

These 2-in-1 brushes that are great for sensitive gums
The reviews are in: These extra-soft toothbrushes live up to the hype. The gentle polyester bristles are even infused with silver that, according to its Amazon description, “naturally eliminates the buildup and debris that linger on most toothbrushes.” They have a 4.6-out-of-5-star rating and over 6,000 ratings on Amazon. Reviewer Muschtini gives the two pack five stars and writes, “I have receding gums and this is the first toothbrush in over a decade that doesn’t hurt me. The cleaning power is unmatched by any other “regular” toothbrush. Perfect size, durable, and easy to hold.” We discovered these toothbrushes courtesy of our friends at BuzzFeed, and our readers can’t get enough.
A high-tech, splurgeworthy toothbrush
Philips Sonicare’s bells-and-whistles toothbrush does cost a pretty penny, but its hi-tech specs and adoring reviews indicate that this may be money well spent. This model features three cleaning modes as well as pressure sensors that prevents abrasive brushing. Plus, it has a two-minute timer to ensure you brush for dentists’ recommended brushing time. Amazon reviewer Elle loves that this electric toothbrush doesn’t need to be charged often even tells you when it’s time to replace its head. “[T]he device itself seems to be very durable and it works great for travel as well because it’s portable,” the reviewer also wrote.
A more affordable (but still powerful) option
Readers also love this more affordable option from Philips Sonicare. While it doesn’t have as many nifty features, this “power” toothbrush checks all the necessary boxes for clean, healthy teeth. This includes a 2-minute timer, 14-day battery life and soft rounded bristles. Plus it has a 4.6-out-of-5-star rating on Amazon and over 20,000 reviews. “…this newer model is cheaper and is still leagues ahead of manual tooth brushes,” Amazon reviewer Nick wrote. “I definitely recommend it to anyone that hasn’t delved into electric tooth brushes, they just make your teeth feel much cleaner! It’s a noticeable difference.” Readers always take advantage when this economical pick goes on sale (as it is right now).
A water flosser that destroys plaque
Waterpik is a household name in the world of water flossing. Rather than string, water flossers remove plaque and food between teeth with streams of pressurized water. The Aquarius water flosser, for example, has 10 different water pressure settings 360-degree tip rotation for fast, ample cleaning in just 90 seconds. Although it takes a up a bit of counter space, according to Amazon reviewer Academia Macadamia, it’s worth it. They write, “I like this model because it works amazing and is a better value price-wise compared to the others.” This is a frequent favorite of HuffPost readers.
A water flosser for small spaces
If you can’t sacrifice counter space or need a flosser for travel, this portable irrigator is for you. It delivers the same high-pressure water streams as other brands but in small, rechargeable packaging. It even comes with a travel case. Amazon reviewer Krystal loves that it’s “so compact, easy to store and transport.”
